Dixfield Common Baptist Church
Sharing the Joy of Jesus with our World

WHO WE ARE

The Dixfield Common Baptist Church is a local assembly of believers that is not connected to, in asociation with or under the leadership of any outside organization, board or denomination. We operate on the basis of the traditional Baptist belief in local autonomy and doctrines. We see as our mission that it is our duty to know and love God while we reach and disciple people to Christ. To fulfill that mission we have as our objective, to create a community of believers which express and communicate the Christian experience in a relevant and attractive way, thus removing all non-essential barriers between non-believers and the Lord Jesus Christ.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The following is a synopsis of what we believe. For a full copy, contact us and we will gladly send it to you.

  1. We believe the Holy Bible is divinely inspired and adequate for our instruction in matters of conduct, faith and evangelism.
  2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe in the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ; in his bodily resurrection and ascension into glory and his imminent return in person to rule forever.
  4. We believe that man is born in sin and falls victim to sin as a part of his human nature and thus is in need of salvation that can only come through faith in Jesus Christ and through that salvation we have eternal life.

WHERE WE ARE

We are located in the beautiful western mountains of Maine in the town of Dixfield. From the East follow Route 2 through Wilton and the village of East Dixfield. About five miles west of that village watch for our bright blue sign on the left side of the road. Turn left on to Common Road and progress about one mile or so. The church building sits at the edge of the road (you literally can't miss it!) Parking is in the rear.

From the West follow Route 2 through the town of Dixfield. Continue on for another three miles until you get to the DOT garage. Do not turn to go up the hill. Instead go straight ahead on Canton Point Road. Less than a mile ahead Common Road will be on your left. Go all the way to the top of the hill and start down the other side. The church will appear in front of you.

Those of you travelling from the North or South, the directions get more complicated, so it's easier just to say connect with Route 2 as soon as possible and follow the instructions above.

Of course, you can always use an internet generated map of directions. It may not be 100% accurate, but it will get you in the general area.

OUR STAFF

Our Pastor, Rev. Ken Hinkley has been with us since 2003 and leads us in worship and Bible teaching as well as assisting us with personal and family situations. He is a 1993 graduate of New England Bible College and served for over ten years in a previous pastorate. His wife, Linda is our Director of the Dixfield Emergency Food Pantry. Rev. Ken & Linda have three grown children and three grandchildren.

Our Deacon is David Berry, retired from a local paper mill, but still active in the church and the community. David's wife, Deanna, brings cheer to those in need of a "pick me up" by sending notes of encouragement, get well or thanks or flowers to those who deserve them.

Our pianist is Edna Holman, one of those who can still remember the "good old days" before the technology revolution.
